Hello again Spotters! We have been very busy with the dogs from Wales among other things, but that is a good place to start this months Spot Blog.

We have taken some pictures of the dogs to show you and you will see a great improvement already. They have now come out of their kennel and are beginning to play with each other..what a lovely sight to see! They have actually been to see the groomer Karen, who does such a wonderful job with all our rescues, and they look great. The dogs were pretty nervous but must feel better now that they are not covered in fleas, their own excrement and matted hair…in fact they look lovely. There is still a long way to go however. None of the collies will approach anyone as yet, but they will follow me and appear to be more relaxed in my company. All of them have been innoculated, chipped and the males neutered, that is how we have spent some of your kind donations to date. Keep an eye on our homepage for regular updates and pictures about the Welsh dogs and our quest for some suitable names.

To other news. Dave and Jo from Marshlea Kennels are fostering two of the very nervous welsh dogs and they are doing a great job, thank you both. Thanks to North Downs Agility who sent us a donation and treats for the dogs, and also to Lynne and her friends from CSJ Foods who sent a donation and food. A special mention must go to Wanda, who has made us the most fantastic, easy to wash doggie duvets, Wanda you are a star! And at the risk of repeating myself, thanks also to Val Phillips for her donation of food and to everyone else who sent donations without addresses, many many thanks but please tell us who you are!!!
I meet such incredibly kind people as I go about my business here at The Spot, and one such organisation I recently came into contact with was Dignity Pet Crematorium. These lovely people have offered us a special place in woodland they own, so that we can lay to rest our beloved collies now and in times to come… what an extraordinary act of kindness and I thank you from my heart.

Another organisation I want to mention is Bronte Glen Dog Beds We discovered Bronte Glen at the Discover Dogs show in 2009. We bought one of their blue Trojan beds and can’t recommend them high enough! The beds have been tested by our toughest, roughest, most sharp teethed dogs and they still look like new. The beds are made of the same material that is used for bullet proof vests and are soft and comfortable to lie in. Try one out for yourself! The guys at Bronte Glen are also very nice and they have offered the Spot some freebie beds for mentioning their wonderful beds, thanks guys!

I would like to mention David Beet and Beta Fencing for sending us rolls of fencing which we will use to help us secure our boundaries, you are very kind.

David and his family are actively raising funds for us, and we are very grateful. In fact, we can’t begin to express how very grateful we are for all the help and donations that we have had from people far and wide.

There is a small tribute to one of my permanent rescues, Archie who was tragically killed a few days ago. If I tell you myself I won’t be able to finish this so Melanie is going to write it for me. Look out for that on the ‘Spotted!’ page.

Lastly, our lovely Angela is organising a sponsored dog walk which anyone anywhere can do and we will be posting details of that soon.

I think that brings you all up to date, so until next time enjoy the Spring!

Hello again Spot readers, welcome to our new web site!

It’s been such a long time since I last wrote. The new site has been under construction for some time and we wanted to save all our news up for the new Spot Blog. We haven’t been taking a break though, indeed things are busier than ever with new dogs arriving all the time.

I have to say a big THANK YOU to all the generous, kind people who sent us donations over the Christmas period, we are truly grateful. I will name a few but have mislaid the addresses of others so please get in touch so that I can mention you on our web site, this is very important so please drop me a line. The Rev. Trica Gibson who has lovely Moss, has donated to us several times so thank you Tricia we very much appreciate your continued support. Thank you to Martin Pullan from Adelaide Australia who sent us a donation in memory of his belated Great Aunt who lived in the Yorkshire Dales. A donation was received from Alison Dupe who adopted Reese, a nervous farm dog a year ago, thank you very much Alison. I have to say a special thanks to John Bell who travelled all the way from the north to give us a donation in memory of is loving wife Shirley who adored border collies and had them all her life. John, as promised I will send you photos of the kennels we are erecting with the money you sent us. Special thanks also to Jane Phipps who brings us dog food and newspapers. Lastly for this time, thanks to Angela for all your behind the scenes support, you are a true friend who has never let me down. Also a mention for Melanie who has been working hard with Panoetic to make our dreams come true for a professionally designed web site, job well done!

Back to the dogs! We have some lovely dogs needing homes and many others who have their little issues and so will stay here and be cared and loved for the rest of their lives. These dogs are hard work at times but they all seem to like me and I certainly love them all. Without all your continued support I could not manage to do this. These dogs are so much part of my life and all their lives are precious.

We are certainly off to a good start in 2010 with our new and lovely website. Thank you everyone for all your help and support. I hope you will enjoy reading it.
